The Council's Board, composed of twelve appointed members from the four county commissions, ensures that the health needs of local communities are effectively addressed. This governance structure underscores our commitment to advancing comprehensive health education and research, actively enhancing the overall well-being of our region.

Florida Statute 408.033(1)(a) mandates that local health councils are established as public or private nonprofit agencies serving the counties within a district. The county commissions within the district are responsible for appointing council members in an equitable manner. The council must have either 12 members or 1.5 times the number of counties in the district, whichever is greater.
